Comanche Chief Quanah Parker Lived A Fascinating Life As America Changed In The Late 1800s.
The last of a dying breed. Quanah Parker. Warrior. Chief. Eventual bridge between the 19th and 20th centuries.
He was an unlikely historical figure. His father was a chief, but mother an abducted white woman named Cynthia Ann Parker (her story is incredible too).
Quanah was lucky to live long enough to become a legend. As a 15-year-old, he barely escaped a shoot-out with Texas Rangers that left his father dead.
Fate had bigger plans for Quanah, as he fought in notable battles on the Western frontier, including the Red River War.
See the rest of his story that reveals details such as the following:
The name of the fierce Comanche band that took Quanah in as an orphan.
How his mother reacted to being “rescued” after 25 years in Comanche culture.
How he became a wealthy rancher and made friends with a famous U.S. president.
